Forest Health

Forestry services available to San Juan County residents and partners

Coordinating forest health practices county-wide by working with public and private agencies to understand and implement priority projects.

San Juan County's forests are at risk of wildfire, disease, drought, and excessive fuel-loading. Contact us today to develop a forest plan that meets the demands of a changing environment.

Quiet Forest

Forest planning for private landowners and partner land management agencies has never been more important. The development of a Forest Management Plan, either through SJICD or another provider, can qualify landowners for our Cost Share programs.

We bring financial and technical assistance to help landowners implement Best Management Practices (BMPs) for long term forest health, carbon sequestration, and wildfire mitigation. Over twenty private landowners received financial assistance for forest health projects from 2021-2022.
