Join us for the 2017 Orcas Farm Tour showcasing the bounty of local products! Brunch is available in the morning at The Kitchen. Dinner is available at Orcas Farm (optional donation).

Here is the schedule:

9:00-10:30 Brunch at the Kitchen, 249 Prune Alley, Eastsound

10:00-2:00 Orcas Public School Garden, 557 School Road, Eastsound

  • Walking-garden tour at the top of every hour. Hear stories of students’ interactions with culinary and medicinal herbs.

10:00-3:00 West Beach Farm, 927 West Beach Road, Eastsound

  • Sheep shearing and farm tours. Meat, wool products, and vegetables for sale.

10:00-4:00 Maple Rock Farm, 509 Nordstrom Lane, Eastsound

  • Farm tour in new location and equipment demos. Taste Girl Meets Dirt’s Tomato Shrub and Tomato Jam, made from Maple Rock’s Amish Paste tomatoes. Check out the farmstand with fall produce and fruit preserves.

10:00-4:00 Orcas Community Participatory Agriculture, 141 Cadden Lane, Eastsound

  • Come and see how fifteen island families have banded together to form a unit of food sovereignty! Guided tours at 11am and 1pm.

11:00-4:00 Buck Bay Shellfish, 117 EJ Young Road, Olga

  • Seafood and shellfish market with oysters, clams, fresh fish and frozen products

11:30-2:00 Red Rabbit Farm, 216 Payton Lane, West Sound

  • Learn how to preserve apples and pears. Jams and Jellies for sale.

12:00-3:30 Doe Bay Garden, 107 Doe Bay Road, Olga

  • Tour a functional garden ecosystem with the beneficial insect/animal habitat, using food waste compost from the cafe, cover cropping, rotation of chickens, and whole approach geared towards minimal outside/off-island inputs.

1:00-2:30 Coffelt Farm Preserve, 1071 Crow Valley Road, Eastsound

  • An opportunity to see a diverse operation with sheep, pigs, cattle, poultry, bees, and a licensed, raw milk micro dairy. Part of an extensive swath of preserved land on Orcas that is beautiful as well as agriculturally productive and ecologically significant. The farm stand will be open with beef, lamb and pork, as well as sheepskins, yarn, milk, eggs, produce, and honey.

1:00-4:00 Wren’s Berry Farm, 435 Beach Haven Rd, Eastsound

  • Local Berries. Battling mummyberry disease organically. Diversifying berry crops and raising ducks to break the disease cycle.

3:30-6:30 Orcas Farm, 120 Byrle Hall Rd, Doe Bay

  • Small scale, non-certified organic farm and homestead. Regenerative, sustainable and bio-intensive methods. High quality, nutrient dense food.
  • Community Dinner and Celebration. Donations welcome.

A Shuttle bus will also be available. Pick-up at the Orcas School.
