The San Juan County Conservation District has changed its name to...

The San Juan
County Conservation District has changed its name to
the 'San Juan Islands Conservation District'. The
Washington State Conservation Commission formally
agreed to the name change at the January 2007
commission meeting. Previously although the district
was formally the San Juan County Conservation
District, it was often referred to as the San Juan
Conservation District - primarily to avoid the
misperception that it was a county agency. (It is
actually is a quasi-autonomous, state agency.)
However this also implied that the district only
served the interests of San Juan Island. Of course we
serve all the San Juan Islands that comprise San Juan
County. The new name is reflected in the new logo and
updated web site (& shortly email addresses).
Forgive us if we sometimes forget how to answer the
phone correctly - all these changes are making our
heads spin!
